Cruising an ocean liner is generally a great experience, no matter the ship’s age. Some people even prefer older ships because they like the layout and features better. But just like a new car, it’s exciting to cruise on a new ship. You won’t be short on choices as several major cruise lines have scheduled maiden voyages for their new cruise ships of 2022.

Wonder of the Seas (Royal Caribbean International) – March 2022
Wonder of the Seas, the fifth ship in Royal Caribbean’s Oasis Class, will be the largest ship globally when it launches and is supposed to deliver everything that Royal Caribbean is known for, plus so much more.
There will be eight distinct ship neighborhoods, a first for the line, including one exclusively for suite guests, complete with its restaurant, sun deck, and lounge. In addition, the water park will have the biggest water slide at sea and a rebuilt Boardwalk and AquaTheater.
The ship will sail from Shanghai to Japan before relocating to Hong Kong in November for winter season sailings to Vietnam, South Korea, China, and Japan when it debuts in March 2022.
Celebrity Beyond (Celebrity Cruises) – April 2022
Celebrity Beyond is the third ship in the Edge Series of Celebrity Cruises. It builds on all of the successful elements that cruisers appreciated in previous Edge ships while adding even more.
Celebrity Beyond will have more outdoor space, a new two-story Sunset Bar, a remodeled Rooftop Garden, a redesigned Grand Plaza with multiple levels, and new dining options.
The ship will also include the most cabins and suites in the Celebrity fleet, so there will be something for everyone, whether you want a more affordable veranda room or something completely breathtaking, like a two-story villa.
Celebrity Beyond will begin its voyages in Western Europe, with stops in France and Spain, before embarking on its regularly planned Mediterranean excursions. It will sail to the Caribbean in the fall.
Viking Mars (Viking Cruises) – May 2022
Viking Mars is one of the smallest, most-anticipated 2022 vessels, with fewer than a thousand passengers and fewer than 500 staterooms, making for a more intimate cruising experience.
The ship is remarkably similar to Viking’s previous vessels, with all of the premium, elegant, and polished spaces and experiences that Viking fans have come to adore. In other words, don’t expect a lot of nightlife partying or kid-friendly activities. Instead, this is an adult cruise line best suited for individuals seeking relaxation and transformational travel.
The ship will travel through the Mediterranean and Northern Europe before making its way to Asia and Australia.
Discovery Princess (Princess Cruises) – Spring 2022
One of the new cruise ships of 2022 is Discovery Princess – Princess Cruises’ final Royal-class ship and the third MedallionClass ship. Book a Sky Suite to take advantage of all of the ship’s latest and best amenities, now having the most extensive balcony in the Princess fleet, measuring more than 1,000 square feet.
Like Sky Princess and Enchanted Princess, Discovery Princess will have the cruise line’s most recent outdoor and pool spaces, including more spa tubs, two deep-tank pools, and an infinity pool and bar. In addition, take Five, a live jazz and craft cocktail bar, and the Princess Live Cafe, featuring coffee, cocktails, and comedy shows, are two of the Discovery Princess’s newer outlets.
Discovery Princess will offer cruises to the Mexican Riviera, the California coast, and Alaska.
Disney Wish (Disney Cruise Line) – June 2022
Disney Wish combines all the excitement and magic of a Disney theme park into one unique seaside experience. If you’ve been on a Disney Cruise Line ship before, you’ll be delighted with all-new amenities on Disney Wish.
Three new and sophisticated family eateries have been created with Disney magic in mind. One is Frozen-themed and serves Norwegian cuisine; another is cinematic in design and focuses on the Avengers; and the final new dining option captures the glitz and glamour of Old Hollywood, with a Roaring 20s ambiance.
A new water feature mixes movies and water slides, while new tech-heavy indoor experiences enable interactive family entertainment. New Broadway-style productions are also in the works.
From Miami, Disney Wish will sail Caribbean and Bahamas itineraries.
Resilient Lady, Virgin Voyages’ third ship, joins the company’s new fleet. Slated for Mediterranean itineraries before going to the Caribbean, the ship continues Virgin’s work honing its identity as a cruise company, so don’t expect anything groundbreaking.
Virgin doesn’t need to compete for attention in the same way that some older cruise lines do because it’s still young enough to attract travelers looking for a novel experience without introducing gaudy “largest at sea” amenities.
Still, anticipate the adults-only ship to have all of the same attractions that cruisers loved on the last two Virgin Voyages ships, such as plenty of places to eat and drink, a busy nightlife, and wellness amenities.
Norwegian Prima (Norwegian Cruise Line) – Summer 2022
Norwegian Prima, Norwegian Cruise Line’s first Project Leonardo-class cruise ship, is slated to provide a few essential elements that cruisers haven’t seen before.
For starters, the line promises that the ship will be the most spacious at sea; they also claim that the ship will have the highest staff level of any new ship and the most suite types accessible at sea.
They also boast that the Norwegian Prima will feature the most significant outdoor deck space of any new cruise ship and the most total pool deck space in the company’s whole fleet.
The ship will travel across Europe in the fall before heading to the Caribbean for the winter. It plans to return to Europe in 2023.
Carnival Celebration (Carnival Cruise Line) – November 2022
Carnival Celebration, Carnival’s most-anticipated cruise ship, truly is a celebration of cruising. It makes its premiere just in time for Carnival’s 50th anniversary!
Carnival Celebration, a sister ship to the other highly awaited Carnival ship, Mardi Gras, will share many facilities and entertainment options. Carnival Celebration will have the same six entertainment zones and the same at-sea rollercoaster, BOLT.
Other than that, Carnival cruisers can expect all of their usual favorites, from long-standing Carnival dining options like Guy’s Burger Joint to newer ones like Shaq’s Big Chicken.
The ship will offer Caribbean sailings from Miami, including Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries and limited transatlantic itineraries.
MSC Seascape (MSC Cruises) – November 2022
The MSC Seascape is one of MSC Cruises’ Seaside EVO ships., offering guests an all-new experience and spaces. The ship has almost 13,000 square meters of open area and is designed to link passengers with the seascape.
Approximately 65 percent of the public spaces on the ship have been reconstructed from previous MSC Cruises designs. The result is over 2,000 rooms and suites with 12 distinct options; over ten restaurants and over twenty bars; six pools, including an aft infinity pool; a 540-meter waterfront promenade; and a glass-floored Bridge of Sighs on Deck 16 with views of the ocean.
The ship will also have the largest MSC Yacht Club in MSC Cruises’ entire fleet. MSC Seascape is also environmentally friendly, featuring catalytic reduction technologies that reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by up to 90% and sulfur oxide emissions by 98 percent.
Arvia (P&O Cruises) – December 2022
Arvia, the sister ship to P&O Cruises’ Iona, is an Excel-class cruise ship with notable features. The SkyDome on the ship is a movable glass canopy above the pool area, which P&O boasts allows passengers to “view the world in widescreen, with sunshine and blue skies.” The clean, minimalist, modern construction surrounding the pool and new swim-up bar complement it.
The Altitude entertainment and activity zone also provides additional opportunities for families to have fun, such as the Altitude Skywalk, a high ropes course; a nine-hole miniature golf course; and the Altitude Splash Valley, a water area for youngsters.
Green & Co, an elegant Asian-inspired eatery providing seafood, plant-based cuisine, sushi, and 6th Street Diner, is among the new eating options for all your favorite American eats.
MSC World Europa (MSC Cruises) December 2022
MSC Cruises has been quite active in recent years, and the MSC Seascape isn’t the only vessel in the works. The cruise company also plans to launch MSC World Europa, the first World-class cruise ship in the class, with sister ships following in 2024, 2025, and 2027.
The World-class cruise ships are expected to be the world’s second-biggest class of cruise ships, with MSC World Europa being the largest LNG-fueled cruise vessel ever built.
MSC Cruises says MSC World Europa will provide “an altogether new cruising experience.” Ship zones will contain everything from a partially open promenade for shopping and entertainment to an adults-only zen zone for some quiet time away from the family to a family zone for all children’s activities.
The longest slide at sea is an 11-deck stainless steel slide. The ship will also feature MSC Cruises’ largest water park to date, complete with VR-enabled water slides.
MSC World Europa will set sail in December 2022 on a special four-night cruise from Doha, Qatar, to her new homeport, the ultramodern metropolis of Dubai.
Viking Neptune (Viking Cruises) – December 2022
The Viking Neptune, a small ship furnished with all the facilities and activities Viking fans value, will debut next year. Viking Neptune, the eighth ocean-going ship in the Viking fleet, will travel between Florida and California, California and England. Its initial voyage will take a whopping 123 days between Florida and England.
The spaces aboard the adults-only ship are remarkably comparable to those on Viking Star. Viking Cruises has discovered a formula that works for the company and has held to it steadfastly.
